Volunteer Opportunities - Help Wanted!
Volunteers are what make HGRM work! If you can lift a couch or lift a pencil, HGRM can use your time and skills to help with the essential tasks of helping people make a home.
Lifters, loaders, movers, shakers, shoppers, sorters, writers, planners all make HGRM work!
Client Assistance: Assist clients as they choose items and help load their vehicles. Volunteers to load furniture especially needed on Saturday and Sunday afternoons 12:45PM – 4:00PM. Other shifts available: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00AM-1:00PM; Tuesday, Thursday 12:45PM-4:00PM
Donation Assistance: Greet donors, write receipts, unload, sort & shelve donated items. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 9:00AM-12:00PM. Volunteers able to move furniture always needed.
Truck drivers and crew:
Pick up furniture donations from donors' homes and businesses. Drivers do not need a special license but must have a clean driving record and be at least 25 years old. Crew members need to be able to lift and carry heavy furniture and be at least 18 years old. Various shifts available, especially Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Great opportunity for self employed people with variable or consistent availability.
Grant Writers:
Join our grant writing team to research and write grant proposals that will help fund HGRM's operations.
Public Relations:
Join our public relations team to help get the word our about HGRM.
Community Drives:
Join a group to organize drives for small items in community organizations such as faith communities, schools, youth groups and others. This effort will help ensure that there is a consistent supply of linens, kitchen items and other necessary items.
HGRM Historian/Archivist:
Organize and maintain HGRM history including photos, news clippings etc.
Other Opportunities: in public relations, fundraising, and other areas are available depending on your skills and interests.
